When you think of Tina Turner, what comes to mind? Is it her famous hits like “Proud Mary” and “What’s Love Got To Do With It”? or maybe her iconic outfits with the lively hairstyle? However, one wouldn’t just think of her personal life right away as she’s been a bit private when it comes to that part.
The singer has been married twice and she had four kids: two of them were biologically hers while the other two came through adoption. Unfortunately, not long ago Tina lost her oldest son.
When Tina Turner was just 18 years old, she had her first child named Craig with saxophonist Raymond Hill. Sadly, in 2018 a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner told PEOPLE that Tina’s eldest was pronounced dead after being found dead at his Studio City home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Though she had only one son with Raymond, Tina started seeing another member of the Kings of Rhythm band — Ike Turner (the frontman). They welcomed their child together named Ronnie Turner. When Tina and Ike were married, they took in each other’s kids. This is how the family of four was born: two boys from previous relationships Ike Jr. and Michael plus Ronnie.
In 1993, Ronnie made his on-screen debut in the music video for What’s Love Got to Do with It. He married Afida Turner a French singer. Ike Jr. seemed to be following in his mother and father’s footsteps with the music industry like many people hope they would do themselves. Less than five years ago he formed The Love Thang band alongside artist Sweet Randi Love; they released their first single as a group called “Freaky!” in 2017. Michael is a private person who likes to stay out of the spotlight.
Tina and Ike after 20 years of marriage, two were legally separated in 1978. Tina opened up about Ike being an abusive partner in her autobiography, I Tina: My Life Story. In a 2005 interview with Oprah, she talked about how her son Craig had witnessed the abuse and was definitely emotionally affected by it. She said, “One day when Ike was fighting me, Craig knocked on the door and said, ‘Mother, are you all right?’ I thought, ‘Oh, please, don’t beat me at home.’ I didn’t want my children to hear,” she revealed to Oprah. Tina also mentioned that Craig “was a very emotional kid.”
Tina’s husband Ike died in 2007 of a drug overdose. She remarried and this time it was to Erwin Back, who is 16 years younger than Tina. They started dating in 1986
