It’s the red solo cups that really bring back memories of those crazy college parties, right? When you think about all those events and things in your life where people are drinking alcohol – birthday party, sports game etcetera- there is probably one thing they have in common: red plastic Solo Cups. The world has become more aware of the plastic pollution problem, and Ball just might be onto something new. The company’s aluminum cups are a step in the right direction for reducing environmental damage.
For years, Ball Corporation has been the company that supplies aluminum packaging solutions for beverage and household products to customers. They also work with aerospace companies U.S government contracts as well as aerospace technologies to government agencies. Ball cor[poration is the manufacturer of soda cans, now, the company created a cup that is just as fun to drink from, but with an interesting twist! It’s made out of aluminum instead of plastic. How cool will these cups be at your next party?
The chairman, president, and CEO, John A. Hayes said, “As our customers and consumers increasingly seek sustainable beverage packaging options, the launch of the aluminum cup is a significant moment for our company. It is our responsibility as the leader in aluminum beverage packaging to continuously innovate and provide solutions for our customers. We’re excited to bring the aluminum cup to market and expand the product line next year and beyond.”
The cups were introduced as a pilot project at select universities across the country, and we’ll see if these frat boys or rowdy tailgaters are actually willing to consider their carbon footprint amidst beer-soaked festivities. Compared to Solo standard cups, the aluminum cups are more expensive costing around 25 cents each. Some of the advantages of these aluminum cups are the cups are durable, they don’t break if you squeeze them and the drink stays cool. It might be a better deal knowing that these cups can be reused indefinitely!
Do you care about the environment? If so, then it’s important to know that only 9% of plastic is ever recycled. Aluminum is a sustainable and recyclable material that’s still used in America. According to the Aluminum Association, 75% of all aluminum ever made in the country is still in use today.
I think it makes sense to spend a few extra cents for those reusable aluminum Ball cups instead of single-use plastic ones.
The cup is not only environmentally friendly and recyclable but also durable customizable. You can customize it with logos or graphics that match your brand. This could be the end of plastic cups. At least according to a new study conducted by the company in America. They found that 67% of US consumers say they will visit venues more often if only using these alternative cups, and 78% expect beverage brands within 5 years to use environmentally friendly containers such as these aluminum cups – so goodbye Red Solo Cups; hello shiny aluminum metal!
