It’s amazing what a big difference you can make in someone’s life just by showing a bit of kindness. Here is the story of how Christy Soule’s life changed forever:
“A friend tagged someone from my High School, When I saw him instantly I knew I needed to message him. With all the bullying and craziness in the world I felt this story needed to be shared! This is what I wrote:
Hi Chad, I don’t know if you remember me, I went to Alta High School. Anyways I wanted to let you know about a time many years ago. My adopted dad (four dads) the only one at the time, I ever considered to be my father, had an affair with my sister. Then they drained the bank accounts and got married. This shattered my family. We lost everything overnight. I was 16 years old. I was going to take my life after that. I prepared everything, and decided to take a walk to just say goodbye to the world, before I killed myself. As I was walking, I saw you on your horse, and you came over to talk to me. I can’t remember our conversation, I don’t even know that you were aware of my circumstances, all I remember was your kindness. There was something there that made my life worth living! It was a tough road for me, but I want you to know I think I have the best life ever! I’m married to the love of my life, I have 5 fantastic children, most importantly I’m forever changed by the love of God! Some people will never know what their kind words can do for someone. Please pause and look at the photo I have attached. 6 faces on that photo would not have been, if it weren’t for you stopping and reaching out to another person! Thank you for saving my life!”
(Response from Chad)
“Hi Christy! Yes I absolutely remember you. Wow! What an amazing story. I can’t begin to explain to you how reading your words makes me feel. It is so admiral and brave to share this with me and it is something that I will cherish forever. I actually do remember the day. I don’t remember our exact conversation and I didn’t know what your circumstances were. All I know is that I will forever be grateful that it happened. I am so happy for you and the life that you have now. You have a beautiful family. I can’t thank you enough for sharing this with me, it kind of helps put some perspective on this crazy life we live and helps to know that being kind and treating others with respect is the correct thing to do. With your permission I would love to share this with my family, especially my little ones that it could maybe help them understand why we want them to treat others with kindness. Thank you again so much for sharing this Christy. You are an amazing person.”
