Former ‘Love After Lock Up’ Cast Member Alla Subbotina Passes Away
Alla Subbotina, another former cast member from the “Love After Lockup” has died. Another former cast member from the Love After Lockup franchise has died. She sadly passed away on Aug 7th, just weeks after fans were saddened by Tracie Wagaman who passed away in July.
Alla was first introduced to the public on an episode of WE tv’s hit show. After five years behind bars for selling heroin, Alla had her boyfriend, James Cristia waiting for her release.
The two were immediately drawn to each other when they first met through a pen-pal service. They quickly formed an attachment and seemed like the perfect match, but things didn’t stay that way for long once she got out of prison. Briefly, after the release, she relapsed and began using drugs again. She collapsed in Season 1 but James nonetheless, stood by his girl’s side as she entered rehab.
Alla was able to stay sober after her time in rehab. She received another chance, but it didn’t last long. She began using drugs again and violated her parole which led to a return trip to prison. James was there for Alla through it all, but she got arrested again last year and was released just this month. We aren’t sure if they were in touch after that or not.
How did Alla, die?
Alla’s death was caused by her addiction to drugs. Yelena Subbotin, Alla’s mother took to social media after her daughter’s death. She wrote on Facebook, “Sadly, addiction won today. My beloved daughter, Alla, passed away earlier today. I’m beyond saddened [sic] by this and hoping she is in a better place. Addiction is an ugly disease, and my daughter had been battling addiction for many years. Rest In Peace, my forever daughter. We love you, Allochka, and always will remember you Forever.”
On Aug. 12, Alla’s funeral was held with a private service for family and friends who wanted to pay their respects. When fans heard the sad news about Alla, they showed their love on social media. One Twitter user said, “Another Love After Lockup cast member has died. Alla was from the very first season, and we saw her relapse shortly after being released. Sadly she never conquered her demons.”
