There are dozens of fascinating characters in Harry Potter’s magical world who have captured the imaginations of readers all over the world. Even though we’re all fans of Harry Potter’s main trio of characters — Hary, Ron, and Hermoine — the characters’ interactions with the world’s other inhabitants have made the series a more complete whole. As students, we’ve all taken a variety of tests to see which houses we fall into and which classes we excel in.
Dobby Harry Potter is one of the most beloved characters, according to many fans. In Harry’s time at Hogwarts he has been an ally, friend, and more, but what exactly is he? It turns out that Dobby has a unique circumstance that sets him apart from the rest of the characters in the movies.
Who is Dobby from ‘Harry Potter’?
Dobby is an elf in the house. However, he is not to be confused with the kitchen elves at Hogwarts. He was especially helpful to the Malfoys, who had been particularly cruel to him during his lifetime. This didn’t deter him from acting in accordance with his convictions, and he always maintained a friendly disposition. It was Dobby’s job to keep Harry safe or get him the information he needed to save Hogwarts throughout the Harry Potter films.
In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Dobby appears for the first time. In the hospital wing of Hogwarts, he meets secretly with Harry to discuss the situation. In order to warn Harry about the plot to open the Chamber of Secrets beneath the school, he fled the Malfoys.
Dobby was essentially a slave to the family he worked for as a house-elf. There were rumors that the Malfoys abused and threatened Dobby Harry Potter in particular.
This means that the only way to set a house-elf free is to give one of its owners a piece of clothing to wear. Harry gave Lucius Malfoy Tom Riddle’s diary in his second year at Hogwarts. Dobby was freed when Lucius gave the book to Dobby because of the sock in the pages.
How did Dobby die?
As Harry’s best friend, Dobby had always been there for him. He remained loyal to Harry to the end because he had chosen to do so. Harry, Ron, and Hermione faced off against Bellatrix Lestrange, a Death Eater, during the Second Wizarding War. Dobby accompanied Harry as the four of them fled to Shell Cottage in an attempt to avoid the fighting. Bellatrix swung a knife at them before they could vanish into thin air.
Bellatrix’s knife pierced Dobby’s heart and he died on the beach in Harry’s arms before they could flee. It was Dobby’s final wish that he could spend his final moments with the people he loved. Harry Potter was the last thing he said.
Dobby’s funeral was held in the garden of Shell Cottage after his death. Some of Harry’s classmates joined the group as they said their final goodbyes at the grave Harry had dug by hand.
