I’m crying tears of THANKS as I share this with you.
Here I am at Cracker Barrel with all 5 of my kids by myself. Will is working, and I’m on mommy duty for the summer.
If you suffer from anxiety as I do, going out can sometimes feel like a chore.
Today, I wanted to surprise the kids with a treat eating out. I was willing to take control of my anxiety and do it.
Will and I work hard on teaching our children how to behave out in public and with their manners.
As the kids went to the restroom before it was to leave, a woman came up to me and asked me if “all these kids are yours?” They are so well behaved. I can’t believe it.”
I proceeded to tell her they were all mine and THANK YOU. That meant a lot. It’s work, but they are good kids. I also mentioned it helps A LOT that their father is a Marine and helps out so much. He’s a great role model for them.
We chatted a little and then she went back to her table with her family.
10 minutes later our waitress Jen came up to clear our table and shared “I just have to say how well behaved your kids are. I’m going to take your bill. It’s been PAID for by a family here at the restaurant who has noticed your beautiful well behaved children. All they ask is that you PAY IT FORWARD. ”
I immediately started to cry. Not because I wasn’t financially able to pay for our meal. I cried because this is exactly what I do and teach my kids. Surprising people and paying for either their meal, coffee, Starbucks – etc.
God had it come to me today. He showed me human kindness from strangers to my family.
With all the negativity in the news – it’s amazing how God shows you “I’m here.”
I ask you to do something today for someone and ask them to PAY IT FORWARD.
P.S. To the beautiful family who paid for our meal – The Carr family THANKS you!
