Twelve-year-old, Jaheir Moore, a 6th grader from Jersey City, has a passion for crocheting and helping his community.
Jaheir helps both local homeless shelters and neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in the Jersey City area. He crochets clothing items and donates them! Jaheir has provided NICU patients and homeless individuals with warm clothing, and compassion during the winter months.
A couple of years ago, Jaheir’s friend mentioned a crocheting class taught at the local YMCA. Since then, Jaheir has donated hats, scarves, gloves, bags, and other articles of clothing. He loves to crochet everyday after school. Each item takes approximately 20 minutes to an hour until completion.
When he was asked how he became involved in homeless outreach, Jaheir replied, “there’s a lot of homeless people on the street, and they look bitterly cold in this weather.”
Jaheir dreams of one day becoming a top fashion designer, and with the passion he has for clothes, there’s no doubt this little man will flourish.
Jaheir Moore serves as an inspiration to all of us. This young man utilizes his creative passion to help improve the lives of others! Jaheir is preparing for his first fashion show on February 25th in Jersey City, where he will showcase some of his heartfelt creations.
